Season 1: Episode #22: "Pet Parenting Styles, Part I" w/ Dr. Ann-Louise Lockhart
Today's Topic: We noticed in our work with clients that there is a wide variety of dog parenting styles, whether it’s those that are characterized by rules, obedience and punishment, or those that are more neglectful and uninvolved in nature, and everything in between. So it got us wondering where these dog parenting styles came from, whether it was from our parents, our culture, our race, our religion, our background, our life experience, or something else entirely. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of information related to dog parenting styles, but we did notice an eerie similarity to child parenting styles. That’s why we invited pediatric psychologist, parent coach, and the owner of A New Day Pediatric Psychology, PLLC., Dr. Ann-Louise Lockhart, to the pod, to see if there are any insights we could glean from her understanding of the different types of child parenting styles, and their effects, but also where they came from.
